Good details about CBSE OTBA
In the year 2013, CBSE OTBA (Central Board of Secondary Education) launched OTBA which is also known as Open Text Book Assessment. The assessment is only for the students studying in Class 9 and in Class 11.
Instead provide them with such golden opportunities where they make effective use of memory and acquire more and more skills of information processing.
The OTBA has been introduced as part of in Summative Assessment II only. Hence OTBA marks will not be part of Summative Assessment I and SA I will be of 90 Marks only.
The Board has been placing more importance on assessment of higher order thinking skills.
Hence recalling and remembering also plays a vital role in the teaching learning process. Knowledge of facts and events should be part of the teaching process and should be used as a base to acquire more in depth knowledge of information and skills.
OTBA is introduced only in two languages, Hindi and English of Class IX. Hence if in case the school does not teach in the aforesaid mediums then the teachers are free to take assessment in any subject of their choice in formative assessment/s.
OTBA will be of very much help even to the slow learners as through cooperative learning and teachers’ encouragement and guidance, all students will strive ahead to achieve expected levels of learning.
Why CBSE OTBA?
