Finding a Program

Being a teacher’s assistant requires having the right education and experience.

Long before you are placed in the role as a profession, you have to go through a series of classes and become educated on what teaching involves.

The first thing you want to do is sign up for a course at either a local college or through an accredited program.

Prices can range from between 100 to 500 depending on where you go.

More often than not, availability is a challenge and it is not uncommon for people to go to the closest teaching center, even if it is a little more expensive.

Either way, you will begin to get the education you need to be effective in the classroom environment.

Placement

As a part of your education, you will be placed in participating schools.

Typically, you will be placed in the school once a week for a period of around 3 hours.

With the potential to ramp up as you acquire your education, this is an excellent opportunity to begin learning what the classroom is like and how you can be a successful facilitator in those environments.

Testing and Certification Once you have completed your education, you typically will take a test for certification.

Once you pass this test, you meet the requirements to teach as a teaching assistant in the country,

Whether or not you choose to get additional training is up to you.  For now, looking for a job should be a top consideration.
