How to Calculate CAT Result 2018?

Calculation of CAT score is a bit different from other MBA entrance exams. In the CAT exam, 3 marks are awarded for every correct answer and 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer. For non-MCQs, there is no deduction of marks. Total marks of a candidate is called raw CAT scores. This raw CAT score is further used to arrive CAT scaled score through CAT normalization process. This CAT scaled score is converted into CAT percentile.

What is CAT percentile?

CAT percentile can be defined as the relative score of a CAT candidate which ranks him or her above other candidates. In simple words, CAT percentile is a measure of ranking candidates on the basis their CAT scores.

Suppose, 1000 people take CAT and you bag the top rank. It means that 999 candidates scored less than you. Thus your CAT percentile will be 999/1000*100= 99.9.

What after CAT results?

Post the declaration of CAT 2018 results, candidates will be invited for Written Ability Test-Group Discussion-Personal Interview (WAT-GD-PI) rounds by various IIMs and other top B-Schools on the basis of minimum cut off percentile. Minimum CAT percentile cut off will be different for different category students.

The selected candidates will have to participate in the WAT-GD-PI rounds in person following which final selection will be done. For final selection, each candidate’s CAT 2018 score, WAT-GD-PI performance, academic history, work experience and diversity will be taken into consideration.
